About a year ago, my husband Dave and I started a small t-shirt and greeting card business called Kooky Uke focusing on the small, but mighty ukulele. We have so much fun running it and creating designs that we decided to create Shred My Couch as a sister store focusing on our feline friends. We love ukes and cats!
My husband and I start out with an idea, then I come up with some sketches, revise them until I land on the purrrfect (I had to!) design for a Shred My Couch product. I either hand or digitally draw, carve or paint the final design and then turn it into a screen print.
It is important that each Shred My Couch piece be of the highest quality from the design, materials and the final product shipped to you. We work hard at finding materials that support small businesses and make a small footprint on this earth with eco-friendly practices. We use Bella+Canvas, American Apparel, and Alternative Earth brands. We are proud that we only print on the best tees in the business. Each brand is sweatshop free and responsibly sourced.
We are passionate about helping organizations in-person and through our financial support. We opened our shop in April 2016 and are currently in conversation with two organizations we feel do work we want to provide support. We will announce them soon!
We have a great staff at Shred My Couch. We couldn't make it happen without Dave, the Cat Staff (Ella Mae, Piper, Bee, Tucker) and Molly, the Dog Staff in training.
I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking and Drawing. As a visual artist, I have shown my work nationally and internationally. Our sister store focusing on our other passion, ukuleles, can be found at www.kookyuke.com
and my fine art at www.breakinggroundstudio.com
We love our customers and pay special attention to each order making sure you feel like your order was a gift to you.
